My work is about potential,

potential in words, terms, terms of words, invisible things,                , things we do(n't) understand, and others that keep us obsessed, including obsession itself. 

The question: What do we allow ourselves? has become both 'the bane of my existence' and my 'raison d'être' and seems to dance on that spectrum throughout my life and work. 

I try to do nothing in order to understand everything.  Which has resulted in experiences lived as a Performer, Host, Rapper, Director, Producer, Lover, Friend, Ceramist, (education) (web) (graphic) (fashion) (Set) designer, Educator/Lecturer, Train conductor, Writer and hustler.

The work gets done in order to help myself (and others?) see the relativity of things and the potential of that relativity.  

This approach results in projects that are whimsical, funny, creative and a bit rascalous.

Jannes van Arkel (1997) was born in Rotterdam,

graduated Willem de Kooning academy with Honours in 2022, did research at 'The School ' under supervision of Pablo Hanon, interned with Maarten Bell and was in Residency at Koen vanMechelen. Currently  teaches and creates workshops, makes music, and practices art and design.
